THE NEED:

The YMCA Gymnastics Program is designed to build confidence in our students through the sport of gymnastics.  YMCA Gymnastics capitalizes on a student’s age and spirit with programs where they learn skills in age-appropriate, noncompetitive ways. As they progress, students learn to place good sportsmanship and teamwork ahead of winning. Most importantly, the lessons students learn in gymnastics transcend the balance beams. They are life lessons that will serve for years to come.

Today, we have more demand for gymnastics programming than we can meet within our current YMCA facility.  The Gymnastics Center on Short Street will allow our gymnastics program to grow and accomplish new goals, including:

  • Offer higher quality classes while keeping our rates reasonable and affordable;
  • Provide triple the amount of scheduled gymnastics programming for all age groups;
  • Give students and staff a permanent location to leave gymnastics equipment set – up and ready for all classes;
  • Meet the scheduling needs of as many families as possible.
  •

    THE LOCATION:

    The Gymnastics Center will be located on Short Street between the current Southeast YMCA and the Bloomington Montessori School

THE YMCA GYMNASTICS CENTER WILL INCLUDE:

  • 6,000 square foot annex building located near the Southeast YMCA
  • Safe and fun gymnastics equipment such as, loose foam pit, tumbling floors, 2 sets of uneven parallel bars, and balance beams
  • Area to serve multiple youth age groups
  • Community meeting room
  • Viewing area for parents with students in classes
