CARDIOPULMONARY REHABILITATION AND

HEALTH MAINTENANCE

Program Goals:

• To build and maintain optimal health

• To improve quality of life

• To have FUN!

Designed for those who have had coronary artery bypass, heart attack, PTCA, or are at risk for heart disease. The program can help you to gradually and safely regain or build your level of fitness. An orientation appointment must be scheduled to begin the program--please contact Margie Kobow, 812.961.2175. This program is offered year-round. Sign-up is done on a monthly basis.

CPR/AED/FIRST AID CLASSES

CPR/AED/First Aid skills are life saving. Our certified instructors will teach these skills in a supportive and encouraging manner. You will also receive hands on training which will help you to retain these skills. Full attendance is required. Choose from the following classes.

PERSONAL NUTRITION CONSULTATION

Meet with our Nutritionist, Molly Packard, and jump-start your

journey towards improved health and well-being. You will receive all the tools and resources you need to develop your personalized plan.

Starter Package

1 – 1 hour session and 2 – ½ hour sessions       $50/$125

 

Must sign up for this package prior to purchasing any single

sessions.

Cancellation Policy: Consultations are not refundable without 24

hour advance notification. Any consultation cancellation will incur

a $15 service fee.

 

 

PARKINSON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP

Please join us on the first and fourth Friday of each month from 1:30-2:30 pm in the YMCA Program Room. Also, please know that some sessions take place from 1:30-2:30 pm at Bell Trace (usually the fourth Friday of the month) . Sessions will be led by IU Speech and Hearing. Caregivers, spouses, and family members are welcome to attend. Day and time are subject to change. Please call the YMCA for more information. No registration or fee is required.

This is a 6-week class committed to helping those with Parkinson’s Disease and other movement disorders with exercise.

SPECIALTY TRAINING ENHANCING PROGRESSION

PERFORMANCE AND SUCCESS - S.T.E.P.P.S.

This individualized instructional program is designed to enhance your overall health and well-being. Individuals with medically based specific needs and/or concerns are encouraged to use this highly specialized training program where the instructor is a Certified Clinical Exercise Specialist. Physician’s approval required. Please note: All clients must have a YMCA membership.

 

   45 minute session      $50

   Ten 45-minute sessions      $450

 

YMCA'S DIABETES PREVIENTION PROGRAM

About 79 million American adults have prediabetes. People with prediabetes are likely to develop type 2 diabetes within 10 years, unless they take action to prevent or delay the disease.  Diabetes is a leading cause of heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease and nerve disease.

 

Monroe County YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program focuses on lifestyle changes such as eating healthier, increasing physical activity and losing a modest amount of weight.  Participants work with each other in a small group setting to learn how to adopt habits that will improve your overall health and well-being and reduce your risk. The program is delivered over a 12-month period, beginning with 16 weekly sessions followed by monthly maintenance.

 

The next class begins WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19, 2013,

W.I.S.E. - WORKING OUT TO IMPROVE STRENGTH

& ENDURANCE FOR CANCER SURVIVORS

This program will provide a supportive environment in which cancer patients, in all phases of recovery, work to improve their functional status and quality of life through physical activity and multidisciplinary education programs. A YMCA staff person will work directly with the medical and academic community to present current information regarding exercise and cancer recovery.

Sign-up is done on a monthly basis. Brought to you by the YMCA, IMA-Premier Healthcare, Olcott Center, and Indiana University.

Y-FITNESS FOR LIFE

Y-Fitness for Life is an exercise program tailored to your health and personal fitness needs. This program is open to anyone who feels they will benefit from exercise, enjoys exercising in a group setting, and is open to making life-style changes. The main goal of this program is to provide a supportive social environment in which participants work to improve personal health, manage

acute/chronic disease, and establish healthy behaviors in an effort to increase their quality of life through physical activity and education. Exercise classes consist of initial monitoring of blood pressure and heart rate, and include a warm-up, flexibility, cardiovascular and resistance training. Physician’s approval required. Sign-up is done on a monthly basis.

YMCA Weight Loss is the start of a lifestyle that will help you achieve the health you want; you will learn about eating right, being active, and managing life at the same time!

 

The YMCA Weight Loss Program is a 12-week program led by trained health and wellness coaches. Each weekly session explores practical topics essential to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Examples include: healthy eating, increasing physical activity, healthy lifestyle skills, managing stress, recipe sharing, and

staying motivated.

EXPEDITION 2 WELLNESS

Where will your expedition take you? Enjoy a healthier lifestyle with the knowledge and support you will get from this 4-week wellness program. Each week you will meet individually with a YMCA Wellness Coach. Together, you will build a workout, learn the components of a healthy diet, make connections within the Y community, and set meaningful wellness goals and the action

steps to succeed.

Learn to:

Includes:

  • Weekly, one-on-one appointments with a Wellness Coach
