Meet the Pilates Instructors
Attentiveness to alignment principles and moving the body with purpose and integrity can be found in all of Lisa's classes. She received her Pilates certification from Indiana University (2009), a 200 hour yoga certification from Vibe Yoga & Pilates Studio (2011), and a Core Barre certification (2013). You will find Lisa's classes to be an invigorating blend of creative sequencing designed to challenge the body and lift the spirit. A focus on core strengthening is emphasized, while efficiently working the entire body.
Mandy teaches Pilates and barre classes at the Monroe County YMCA. She has been a student of Pilates and yoga since 2001. Mandy enjoys the benefits of mind/body exercise through breath, movement, and enhanced body awareness. She holds Group Exercise and Pilates certifications through the YMCA of the USA, as well as Pilates and Barre Blend certifications through the National Exercise Trainers Association. Her teaching incorporates the Stott Pilates method for core strength and stability as well as better posture.
Mary Lou Iauco-Bewley
Mary Lou received her Pilates Matwork Certification from IU HPER under the direction of instructor Emily Bogard. She is also trained to teach Total Body Pilates and Barre. Her sessions take on the goals of the individual exercises and movement patterns, while also concentrating on breath patterns and postural alignment. Her background of employment at the Los Angeles Theatre Center, IU Musical Arts Center, Idllwild Arts Foundation and Interlochen Center for the Arts influences her creativity when leading Pilates. She has been an instructor at the Y since 2006 and also teaches at IU Rec Sports. Mary Lou enjoys looking at life slowly and being grateful. Mary Lou is an antique dealer and singer.
Yulia preserves the principles of Amrit yoga, developed by yogi Amrit Desai, which is a dynamically active and deeply meditative approach cultivating awareness of the life force energy (prana), which leads to integration and lasting transformation. Yulia helps students reveal a deep connection between body, breath, mind, heart, and spirit. Yulia ends each class with an integrative relaxation of Yoga Nidra (psychic sleep) to help students connect with their deep heart’s intensions and prayers. This deeply meditative yoga practice will turn your yoga mat into your refuge.
