Open Door Saturday

The Monroe County YMCA will host “Open Door Saturday” on June 9. Both the Southeast Y (2125 S. Highland Ave.) and Northwest Y (1375 N. Wellness Way just off of Vernal Pike) will be free and open to the public all day. Plus, the Southeast Y will host special programming from 11:00 am-3:00 pm with giveaways, information about Y programs, and Group Exercise classes taking place ranging from yoga to cycling. A free NFL Flag Football Clinic will also be held 1:00-3:00 pm at the Southeast soccer field for kids 6-13 years old (weather permitting). Find the full special programming schedule here:

Guests who become a member of the Monroe County YMCA during the special programming hours of 11:00 am-3:00 pm will have their joiner fee waived. Plus, the first 50 households who join the Y at either location will receive one free, adult-sized t-shirt per family.

Y facilities are free and open to the public during the following hours (please note the pools close 30 minutes prior to the facilities closing):

  • Southeast: 6:00 am-6:00 pm
  • Northwest: 8:00 am-4:00 pm

Guests can also utilize Play and Learn, which is drop-in childcare for kids ages 6 weeks to 6 years for up to two hours, while using the Y facilities. Play and Learn hours will be extended for this special event:

  • Southeast: 9:00 am-3:00 pm
  • Northwest: 9:00 am-1:00 pm

“We hope families and individuals of the Monroe County community can come out and see what the Y is all about,” said Kevin Vail, development and membership director of the Monroe County YMCA. “We also encourage current Y members to bring a friend during the event. There is something for everyone at the Y!”
