Yoga Workshop: Meditation and Coloring!

Coloring isn’t just for kids anymore! Adults all over the world are enjoying this favorite childhood pastime, but now with an eye toward reducing stress and inviting more joy into their lives. Practicing yoga and meditation can improve health, reduce stress, and offer much needed balance to the hustle and bustle of daily life, but for some, meditation can be intimidating. Common concerns include: difficulty sitting still, an overactive mind, or too many distractions. Adding a single, focused, creative task like coloring can enhance one’s ability to sit mindfully, and as a result, can improve our capability to handle stress. Join instructor, Deb Hackman as she offers guided meditation, a few seated yoga poses, and coloring. All supplies will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you are already a coloring aficionado!

About the Instructor: Debbie Hackman began practicing yoga in college to quell the stresses of life and finds that her practice still gives her the balance she craves in life. She explores introspection in her practice and teaching, with special focus on the breath. She encourages her students to “hear my words, but listen to your bodies.” She enjoys mini vinyasa flows and includes restoratives during each session. She has been an instructor at the YMCA for more than 30 years and currently teaches Level 1 Yoga, Sitting Fit Yoga, and Arthritis Aquatics. Debbie is trained in Judith Lasater’s Relax and Renew Restorative Yoga Program.
