Join us on an exploration of Yin Yoga. Yin Yoga is a deep, slow-paced, and relaxing style of yoga. In this practice, poses are supported and held for longer periods of time. These longer held poses allow gentle stretching of the connective tissues between the joints in order to increase circulation in the joints and improve flexibility. Yoga experience required.
About the instructor, Terri Sterneman: After 20 years in the corporate world, I turned my energy to Yoga, receiving my 200 hour RYT in 2006. My favorite practice is Yin, with deep supported stretches held long enough to safely stretch the connective tissue between the joints, focusing on improving flexibility. I find restorative practices equally enticing, similar to Yin but focusing on relaxation and meditation. However, I also understand and appreciate the Yang side of Yoga, realizing the practice of Power and Vinyassa Yoga can be quite beneficial to increasing strength, endurance and energy. Both Yin and Yang practices are important facets of a balanced yoga practice. I try to devote part of each practice to the Yang to fully enjoy the Yin.
