Fitness Classes & Training
We're so much more than a gym! From Personal Trainers to Group Exercise Classes, there is something for everyone. If you ever find yourself getting bored with your routine, check out a Class Included in Your Membership or jump in the pool for some Water Fitness. The Y is yours to explore, enjoy, and make your own!

Classes Included in Your Membership
These group exercise classes are offered to members at no additional cost! Registration is not required, but you must arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of class to reserve your spot. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Some have maximum capacities due to space and safety needs.
Find the right class for you! With over 30 Group Exercise classes available, there's something for everyone! In Group Exercise Classes, you'll follow a trained instructor doing exercises alongside other participants. These classes are open to participants ages 12 and older.
Personal Fitness Programs
Sometimes one-on-one attention and training is exactly what you need to reach your goals and exceed your expectations. The Y offers a variety of personal fitness approaches to suit your interests, schedule, and budget.

Running & Triathlon Training
The Monroe County YMCA is committed to helping you reach your goals. With running groups, group endurance programs and 5K Fridays, we're here to help you, whether you're just getting started or a veteran runner.
In Adult Aquatics Classes ("Water Group Exercise"), you'll follow a trained instructor doing exercises alongside other participants in the pool. These classes are open to participants ages 12 and older.
Based on yoga and classical dance, this mind/body practice emphasizes lengthening and strengthening the whole body. Special attention is given to postural enhancement, core strength and stability, and breath work. Pilates techniques are low impact, and are accessible to all people, from beginners and those with injuries to athletes and dancers.
Tai Chi is a series of slow, flowing movements practiced by people of all ages to improve strength, agility, and balance, while calming and focusing the mind. The lack of impact makes it an excellent exercise for people with arthritis.
The foundation of our yoga program lies in Hatha Yoga, a mind/body practice which is an invigorating, non-competitive form of exercise for men and women of all ages. Every class works on developing strength, flexibility, balance, and concentration and emphasizes body alignment, spinal extension, muscular balance, and the subtleties of the breath. The gentle and versatile nature of yoga promotes physical and mental relaxation, increased energy, and enhancement of one’s overall health.
