Child Care & Activities
At the Y, we're committed to youth development. With licensed child care, preschool, and Energize (just to name a few), we're here to fulfill all of your child's educational needs in each childhood milestone. When you trust the Monroe County YMCA with your child's early education and the teaching of useful assests, we aid in shaping them into well-rounded individuals.

The Y provides an environment that encourages curiosity, creativity and expression. We encourage healthy growth in spirit, mind, and body, with cooperation and mutual respect for everyone. We develop this through positive character development and by modeling these behaviors through teacher-children interactions. Children are individuals, and we believe in developing the whole child emotionally, physically, intellectually, and socially, while meeting each child’s own needs and learning styles. Through games, group activities, songs, creative drama, gym time, outdoor play, and story time, children will learn about the world around them. We believe in partnering with parents to encourage whole child development within a safe and nurturing environment.
A birthday party is fun and easy when you have it at the Y! Let the kids run in the gym, swim in the pool, or tumble at the Gymnastics Center. We have something for everyone's perfect birthday experience. Birthday parties are held at the Northwest YMCA and the Gymnastics Center.
Center for Children and Families (YCCF)
The Center for Children and Families provides a sound early childhood program for children 6 weeks through 5 years (prekindergarten). The Center's curriculum for infants, toddlers and preschoolers focuses on developing the whole child, through hands-on, investigative projects that encourage children to use all of their senses and help to develop their critical thinking skills, getting them ready for school.
Funded by the YMCA Endowment Fund, Energize is an in school program that strives to cater to preventing childhood obesity by providing lessons on healthy eating choices and the importance of 60 minutes of exercise per day.
Parent's Day Out/Parent's Night Out
Parent's Night Out and Parent's Day Out are the perfect opportunities for your child (ages 2-10) to have fun time with friends while you run errands, go on a day, or take some time for yourself!
Play and Learn
Play and Learn is included in your Family Membership, so there's no need to sign up. Simply scan your child's Y member card when you come in the facility, and bring him or her to the Play and Learn room. Our trained staff create a nurturing environment of warmth, friendliness, and freedom. We lead children ages through a variety of fun, safe playtime activities, including stories, crafts, dress-up, and active play.
The Zone is a space just for youth ages 7-12 to hang out at the Y. With games, physical challenges, and safe supervision, your kid will look forward to coming to the Y while you work out, take a class, or catch up with friends.
