Group Exercise Classes
At the Y, there's a Group Exercise (Group Ex) class for everyone. If you find yourself getting bored with your fitness routine, joining a Group Ex class is a great way to switch it up, get out of a rut, meet new friends, and have fun. We offer over 70 classes included in Membership each week, free to Y members, spanning cardio, strength, mind-body, and aquatic fitness. We also offer dozens of paid classes that you can join for an additional cost. The Y is yours to explore, enjoy, and make your own!
What is group exercise?
In Group Exercise classes at the Y, a certified instructor will guide you through a structured workout alongside other participants. Benefits of group fitness include increased motivation, accountability, guided, safe, and effective workouts, and social interaction. These classes are open to participants ages 12 and older.*
*To ensure the safety of our members, youth ages 11 and under are NOT allowed in adult group exercise classes. This includes sitting in the back of the room and babies in any kind of carrier. Youth ages 12+ can participate in adult classes as long as they can perform exercises as instructed.
Registering for Group Ex Classes
At the Monroe County Y, we offer a variety of free and paid (available at an additional cost) classes to meet your needs.
Free Classes
For free classes, registration is not required, but you must arrive 15 minutes before class to reserve your spot. Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Some have maximum capacities due to space, available equipment, and safety needs.
Paid Classes
Registration for paid Group Ex classes is monthly, so please register early to ensure your spot is reserved and you don’t miss any classes!
