Lifeguard Recertification
Refresh your knowledge and skills with this American Red Cross Lifeguard recertification program at the Monroe County YMCA in Bloomington, Indiana! In order to qualify, your previous American Red Cross Lifeguard certification must not have expired for more than 30 days.
Course Details & Requirements
This one-day course will include a prerequisite swim, skill refresher, in-water final, and final written exam.
Prerequisite Skills Assessment:
SWIM TREAD SWIM

150-yard breast or free, 2 minutes treading water with hands out of the water or in the armpits, 50-yard swim. Goggles are allowed.
BRICK TEST

20-yard swim, 9-foot surface dive to retrieve a 10lb brick, 20-yard swim back with BOTH hands on the brick with the brick at surface level in under 1 minute and 40 seconds. No goggles allowed.
Please make sure you are well-rested and ready to swim. Please also bring any snacks you may need and a water bottle.
