Southeast Y Swim Lesson

Winter Session:

There are no Group Swim Lesson sessions in December 2021. We will be taking a break for the holiday season, but Group Swim Lessons will be back in 2022! During this time, we will be offering Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons. If you would like to keep your child in the water and up-to-date on their skills, this can be a great replacement for group lessons. Please contact our Welcome Center staff at either Y branch to schedule a consultation, and we will be in contact.

Registration for the January Group Lessons will open to Y members on Monday, December 27, and all remaining spots will be opened to non-members on Sunday, January 1.

All ages welcome! Lessons are open on a monthly basis.

Swim Lessons will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at our Southeast Y and on Saturdays at our Northwest Y. View our Northwest Y Swim Lessons here.

Please note: Classes are not pro-rated, and the YMCA reserves the right to cancel any program which does not meet minimum enrollment standards.

Frequently Asked Questions:

When does registration for swim lessons open for next month?
Registration for swim lessons will open six (6) days prior to the beginning of the next month.

Can I be in the pool with my child during lessons?
The Swim Starters group lessons are the only lessons with a parent or guardian in the water with the child.

How do I know which level my child is ready for?
Our programs are set up by age and skills. However, that does not mean your child automatically should be enrolled in the designated level. We understand there are advanced or beginners in every age group!

We encourage you to review our "Swim Program Levels Breakdown" (below) to see which skills are taught in each group. In the "Program Overview" and "Stages of Learning" listed on pages 3 and 4 in our "Swim Program Levels Breakdown" document (below), the skills listed under each level are what your child will be learning; your child doesn’t need those skills in order to join to that level. If you’re still unsure, our aquatics team is happy to help place your child in the appropriate program! You can contact us below if you need assistance.
