Tiger Shark swimmers have opportunities to develop not only swimming skills, but life skills as well through a program that cultivates team spirit and engagement. Activities are well-rounded with in-water practices for all swim groups.
Our coaching staff is passionate about youth development, and has helped swimmers accomplish their goals should they be as simple as swimming in their first swim meet or achieving a YMCA State time cut.
Coaches use the latest stroke and drill techniques to build a solid foundation, promote correct form, and build good habits in all four strokes while incorporating fun into every practice including relay races and mini competitions. Instruction is personalized to each swimmer, and various challenges are used to establish and promote a solid foundation in both stroke technique and racing strategy. Coaches also provide continuous stroke, turn, and start evaluation and adjustment to prepare swimmers for competition.
Tiger Sharks have four practices per week and one opportunity to compete in a swim meet each month. Team members pay a monthly draft of $80. Charges are billed on the first of each month.

Tiger Shark Practice Groups
Swimmers must be able to swim 150 yards of any stroke, freestyle 50 yards with basic knowledge of a flipturn, backstroke 50 yards and have a basic understanding of the breaststroke and of a standing dive. This is a beginner group, so we are not looking for a perfect stroke! We just need to know your swimmer has the basic endurance and understanding for a regular practice.
Swimmers must be able to perform a 200 under five and a half minutes. They also must be able to complete the following: 100 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke, 100 yard breaststroke, and 50 yard butterfly. Proper start and turns are preferred, but not required. This is an intermediate group focused on perfecting stroke, endurance, and speed.
Swimmers must meet at least one YMCA divisional time cut. This is an advanced group focused on improving speed and endurance.
Age requirements: Swimmers must be between the ages of 6-18 before the start of the regular practice season.
